Georgetown Fire Department Newsletter July 2016

GEORGETOWN – As summer rolls on, July kept members of the Georgetown Fire Department out and about responding to calls and interacting with the community. Chief Fred A. Mitchell Jr. is pleased to share what firefighters were up to last month.

Throughout July, the Georgetown Fire Department responded to 187 incidents:

Fires: 4
Rescue and EMS: 58
Hazardous Conditions (no fire): 6
Service: 96
Good Intent: 10
False Alarms: 13

Firefighters responded to cooking fires on Trestle Way and Andover Street, a false bomb threat on Spofford Street and a motor vehicle accident on East Main Street.

The Georgetown Fire Department also provided mutual aid to Byfield (brush fire), Boxford, Groveland, Haverhill, Rowley, and Salisbury (structural fire).

Beginning in July, the fire department implemented a residential lock box program for seniors and handicapped adults to allow for firefighters to better respond to emergencies.

Chief Mitchell and the Georgetown Fire Department thank the community for their continued support and encourage residents to check the department website for the latest news.
