Georgetown Fire Department Newsletter June 2016
GEORGETOWN – June was busy for the Georgetown Fire Department and Chief Fred A. Mitchell Jr. is pleased to share what the fire crews were up to during the first month of summer.
Throughout June, the Georgetown Fire Department responded to 167 incidents:
Fires: 9
Explosion: 1
Rescue and EMS: 58
Hazardous Conditions (no fire): 7
Service: 73
Good Intent: 12
False Alarms: 7
One of the major incidents the fire department responded to last month was a small fire at the Black Swan. In addition to its incident responses, the fire department conducted 26 Residential Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector Inspections and held a Fire Safety Education Presentation at Camp Leslie on June 16.
Members of the fire department also conducted routine building cleaning and maintenance at the firehouse, including sprucing up and reorganizing the apparatus bays, as well as monthly operational checks on small engine equipment.
A new counter top was installed in the fire prevention office to allow for more work space and firefighters painted a utility room to get ready for the new gear extractor and dryer, which are being installed this month.
As always, Chief Mitchell and the Georgetown Fire Department would like to thank the community for their continued support and encourage them to frequently check the department website for the latest GFD news.
