Employment

A Georgetown Fire Department Member stands on a fire engine ladder.

The Georgetown Fire Department invites men and women 18 years or older who want to experience the excitement of responding to emergency calls while also serving their community as firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to contact them about this opportunity.

The Georgetown Fire Department is a combination paid and on-call fire department with an extremely diverse membership that includes people of all ages, cultural backgrounds and professions ranging from bankers to engineers, government employees to school teachers. The department is led by a full-time career chief and the station is staffed 24 hours a day seven days per week by full-time and per-diem staff.

Applicants are required to have their EMT-B and need no prior fire experience or training if a Georgetown resident or a resident of a neighboring community.  Members receive free professional training through the Massachusetts Fire Academy to the level of Certified Firefighter 1-2. We will also accept applicants outside of Georgetown and its neighboring communities if the applicant has their EMT-B and Firefighter 1-2 ProBoard Certification. The Georgetown Fire Department has an aggressive and progressive in-house training program. Also, members have opportunities to receive other specialized training opportunities in the Emergency Services field.
