GEORGETOWN – Chief Fred Mitchell Jr. is pleased to report that members of the Georgetown Fire Department participated in training exercises at the fire station last night.

Georgetown firefighters practiced several basic ground fire skills including raising ground ladders, deploying hose lines and working with hydrant connections.

In small groups, firefighters rotated to the different skill stations under the direction of Capt. Brian Gosse.

“It is so important for firefighters to continue to practice even the most basic firefighting skills throughout their careers,” Chief Mitchell said. “I am pleased that everyone who took part in this exercise did so enthusiastically.”

The Georgetown Fire Department conducts monthly training exercises based on the Firefighter Level I and II curriculum. These training sessions cover topics such as fire ground operations, EMS and apparatus equipment maintenance.
