Using Outdoor Fire Pits Safely

Each year, the Georgetown Fire Departments get lots of questions regarding the use of outdoor fire pits (campfires, chimineas).  As the weather gets nicer, and you and your family are looking at enjoying a nice campfire in the backyard, we wanted to provide some guidance to help keep you safe.  There is no special permit required in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the use of outdoor fire pits on private property however; there are some simple rules to follow.  Please see the link below to help ensure you have a safe and enjoyable time.  If you have any questions, please reach out to our fire prevention group at fireprevention@georgetownma.gov or 978-352-5757.
