The Georgetown Fire Department recently donated old turnout gear to a department in need in Panajachel, Guatemala, through the Fundamaya program. The GTFD was connected to the department through local resident Alana White.
As firefighter turnout gear reaches the end of its life for our firefighters and no longer meets standards here in the United States, departments around the world look to get their hands on this gear to provide their firefighters protection that they otherwise would not be able to get. The GTFD is happy to see the gear that provided our firefighters protection for many years get a second life giving fellow firefighters in Guatemala the protection they need to help them get their jobs done safely.
