Georgetown Fire Department Extinguishes House Fire
GEORGETOWN — Chief Fred A. Mitchell Jr. reports that the Georgetown Fire Department responded to a house fire last weekend.
On Sunday, Feb. 11, at 9:52 p.m. Georgetown firefighters were dispatched to 3 Hart Circle for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters observed that a rapidly growing fire was burning inside one of the home’s walls.
Residents were home at the time of the fire and were able to safely evacuate.
Crews worked quickly and aggressively to contain and extinguish the flames before they extended into the home’s attic. The fire was contained within 30 minutes of firefighters’ arrival, but the Georgetown Fire Department remained on scene for several hours putting out hot spots and overhauling the interior.
No injuries were reported.
Following a preliminary investigation, the fire is believed to have started in the wall near an interior fireplace. Damage to the home was not severe enough to displace the residents.
