Chief Matt McKay reports that the Georgetown Fire Department extinguished a fire in a detached garage on Thursday night.
On Thursday, June 15, at 9:47 p.m., the Georgetown Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a garage fire at 14 Spofford Ave.
The first companies on scene arrived to find a 10- by 16-foot detached garage that was fully involved.
Engine 2 and Engine 4 both arrived on scene and quickly knocked down the fire. The garage was a total loss. There were no reported injuries.
The origin and cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Georgetown Fire Department.
Firefighters from Newbury provided mutual aid at the scene and firefighters from Groveland covered Georgetown fire stations. Firefighters from Rowley were also en route to the scene to provide mutual aid, but their response was canceled as the fire was brought under control.
